Lloyds TSB International Private Banking
Lloyds TSB International Private Banking is a division of one of the worlds most trusted financial institutions – the Lloyds TSB Group. Lloyds offers a complete range of private banking services, adding value through tailor-made solutions. Lloyds TSB has offices in most of the world's leading financial centres: Europe, the Americas, Middle East and Asia. The relationship managers regularly travel the world to remain in touch with their clients. And they uses up-to-the minute communication technologies to ensure that physical distance is never an issue.
The Challenge: Improving Business Processes
Lloyds TSB was using a historically grown intranet, based on MS asp.net/ SQL solution with very old HTML coded pages. With the time lot of improvements had be done, but the old system was reaching it limits and inefficient. Since Lloyds started to implement a J2EE environment, it was decided to replace the old intranet with a new state-of-the-art java-based solution where both intranet and internet are included.
The major challenge thereby was to improve the costs of the business processes and give users an ease of use application to enter their content themselves. Prior the processes therefore were very time consuming and inefficient. Content has been sent back and forward many times between departments. The webmaster modified the content into HTML, deployed it on a test environment and at the end the communication team validated it and the webmaster published it on the production website.
When they started with the evaluation three years ago there was no budget. Therefore they were primarily looking for an open source solution. After testing different Content Management Systems and delimiting all the XML / XSL products, there were only two products of their choice. Magnolia was by far ahead without contest, because Magnolia was just easier to understand, easier to use and had the better user interface.
