Travel.com.au is Australia's leading on-line travel company and provides a one-stop shop in offering a wide range of solutions for customers. It offers travel services to individual and corporate customers, including domestic and international travel, hotel accommodation, car hire, travel insurance and holiday packages.

Business problem addressed

Travel runs lastminute.com.au, the top travel web-site in Australia. Their existing technology was outdated, hard to maintain, and slow. They wanted a new design and a platform that can be extended to integrate business processes and SEO (search engine optimization). Travel needed end users to be able to enter and publish content in a simple and fast way. This was impossible with old system. They needed the ability to enter “daily specials” with a very fast turnaround time for publishing. They needed to be able to reuse content on their other sites (like travel.com.au and for white-labeled travel information for Yahoo travel Australia).

Result: the new Magnolia site has 50% more visitors than the previous site.

Linux, JBoss App server, HW-load balancer, 1 authoring & 2 public Magnolia servers

Level of customization required and rationale
Custom look and feel for the published web site. Added site functionality like integration of booking engine. Special templates to allow parts of the pages to be accessed separately (needed for white-labeling content).

Current status of the project
Project is live. Ongoing support. Development of additional functionality is performed in-house or with local system integrator.
